About Emily
I’m a marketing professional by day, a fitness instructor on the side, and a girl who’s been wanting to write more. A lot more. I’m an Enneagram 9 and an INFP (and a Pisces/Aquarius cusp, if you’re into that sort of thing).
I grew up in New Orleans, spent 13 years in Chicago and now reside in Charlotte, NC with my husband, Jon, and our dog, Lucy (AKA Goose).
About the blog
“This is what happens–falafels and earrings. Everyone knows how to talk, and no one knows what to say.”
- Nick Hornby, A Long Way Down
To be honest, I don’t remember the context of this quote from A Long Way Down, but it has stuck with me since I read it in college.
I’ve been writing off and on since I was in middle school — my poor English teachers had to read SO MUCH angsty teen poetry and I am eternally sorry for that. That grew into journaling, an interest in journalism, blogging and eventually a career as a copywriter. But as with most things, life got in the way and at some point I blinked my eyes and I hadn’t updated my blog in four years. So, I decided it was time for a re-launch. Thus, Falafel & Earrings was (re)born!
Here, you’ll find my thoughts on a smattering of topics - everything from cross-state moves to mental health to books I enjoy; from falafel to earrings and everything in between. Sometimes it’ll be funny and sometimes heartfelt. Consider it an exploration — an experiment in finding my voice. Really, I’m just happy you’re here. :)
